The College of Agricultural Sciences and the Department of Microbiology within the Oregon State University Awards Scholarships Ranging From $500 to $2,000

Oregon State University takes pride in having one of the oldest and most experienced departments, The Microbiology Department which originated as a single course in Bacteriology in 1899. In those early days, research was focused on bacteriological diseases of vegetables and animals. Today, the department still supports agricultural research, with the focus on plant health, food microbiology, and areas of salmon. Still, the department did not limit the research areas to those previously mentioned but expanded its activity to explore microbial communities in diverse aquatic environments such as coral reefs and the deep ocean.

Currently, the department is searching for outstanding students who will be awarded annually, on a competitive basis, with typical awards ranging from $500 to $2,000. Scholarships are available through Oregon State University, the College of Science, the College of Agricultural Sciences and the Department of Microbiology.

In order to be considered, students must submit two letters of recommendations in addition to the Microbiology Scholarship Application which can be easily accessed here http://microbiology.science.oregonstate.edu/microbiology-undergraduate-scholarship-application. Additionally, students who wish to apply for the College of Science and the College of agricultural Sciences scholarships are invited to apply through the online Scholarship Management System. They can access it here https://scholarship.ucsadm.oregonstate.edu/prod/app_login.php.

Outstanding students who deserve to be awarded the scholarships offered by the Department of Microbiology ought to be declared Microbiology majors for at least two terms. Most scholarships require a cumulative OSU GPA and last-two-term GPA of 3.0. Applicants must have a major in Microbiology and recipients must have Microbiology major the entire year of the scholarship. IMPORTANT NOTE! Post-baccalaureate students are not considered eligible to apply for the Microbiology scholarships.

As mentioned in the paragraph from above, scholarships are awarded annually on a competitive basis ranging from $500 to $2,000. The eligibility criteria vary depending on the award and the number of award given each year. Students can easily follow the important dates below:
