Our daily lives are intertwined with technology. In an era where the technology revolution is shaping up our lives, education hasn’t also evolved to reflect that. A few decades ago, people could imagine we will be able to go to school from the comfort of our own homes.

But today we’re always connected – to our family, our friends, our peers, our teachers. This has facilitated the advent of distance learning degrees – classes you can take with the help of a laptop connected to the Internet from basically anywhere. It’s amazing how much technology has changed the educational environment and we believe it will continue to do so in the future, as well.

The majority of students today have an active interest in technology. It’s only natural, as many of us today sport advanced smartphones in our pockets which are basically portable mini-PCs. Technology as a niche has evolved to become a very sough after area in the work force.

Students graduating today with a technology-related degree are almost guaranteed to be able to get a job in the first few months upon graduation. What’s more, they are paid on average a lot better than their counterparts who are specialized other fields of expertise.

What’s more, technology students also have access to a wide range of grants for school. Scholarship are important for students of on-campus and distance learning degrees, because they help pay for the expensive college programs. And while the majority of scholarship programs welcome all types of students, there are some which target specific categories like technology students or those pursuing a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) degree.

Case in point we have an example for you of such a scholarship. Although we should mention that in order to apply for this scholarship you don’t need to be pursuing a technology-related degree. You just have to love technology and have a few ideas related to it.

Say hi to the Soliant Sunrise Scholarship which is open to undergraduate students of all majors. However, you will need to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in order to be apply for this grant.

If that’s the case for you, you can go ahead and fill out the scholarship application that’s available on the Soliant website. On top of that, you’re required to write an essay of approximately 400 words in which you answer the following question:

How have you used technology as a tool to improve someone’s life, and what did you learn from this experience?”

As you can see students will a real passion for technology will have an evident advantage here. But this isn’t to say Soliant’s scholarship program isn’t open to everyone.

Interested parties have until April 30, 2018 to come up with the essay. Don’t forget to double check the essay upon completion, as texts riddled with grammar and spelling mistakes will surely get disqualified.

The awardee will receive $1,000 in funding. Two such awards are offered annually, one per semester.
