International Students, Eligible to Apply for the Singapore International Graduate Award

International students who wish to further their education and undertake Ph.D. classes at one of their chosen lab at A*STAR Research Institutes are now welcome to apply. Outstanding Ph.D. students will be awarded the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA), a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, the Nanyang Technological University, the National University of Singapore and the Singapore University of Technology and Design.

Only graduates who have a strong passion for research and excellent academic results are invited to apply. The Ph.D. training will be carried out in English and the students will be supervised by world- renowned researchers in these labs. After graduation, students will be conferred a Ph.D. degree by either NTU, NUS or SUTD.

International students will have the possibility to obtain their Ph.D. degree in science and engineering while living in a melting pot of cultures and intellectual powerhouse, as Singapore is. The areas of interest under the Ph.D. program fall under two categories:

  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Physical Sciences and Engineering

The winners will receive an attractive monthly stipend over 4 years of Ph.D. studies which can support them comfortably. The stipend amount is S$24.000 annually and it can be increased to S$30.000 after passing the Qualifying Examination. Also, the winners will receive full support for tuition fees for 4 years of Ph.D. studies, one-time S$1000 setting-in-allowance and one-time $S1500 Airfare Grant.

How can students apply for the award? Students must visit the official website which is https://www.a-star.edu.sg, access the SINGA application form, and note the application deadlines. Students must submit the following documents with the application form:

  • A copy of their university transcripts
  • 2 letters of recommendation from academic referees
  • A personal statement of up to 500 words
  • 2 passport-sized photos

IMPORTANT! A full English translation is required for all the supporting documents. Also, the brochure contains the estimated cost of livings in Singapore so that students will have the possibility to create a plan for their staying in Singapore. I came to Russia to pursue my dream of becoming a General Medical Doctor but currently studying the Russian language for a year, since its a prerequisite for studying Medicine in the Russian Medium. The language course will end this May and I would be so glad to get a scholarship to start my medical course this coming September in Tyumen Medical Academy, Russia.   3. my names are Jonathan lukwesa from Zambia but living in south Africa. how can one from Africa be able to come in Singapore? do I need to use my own airline money if accepted for undergraduate or graduate.?
