Harvard University is Offering Free Online Course on Poetry in America

Harvard University is inviting all current and soon-to be future poets to assist, for free, at its online course on Poetry in America: Modernism. The literature course, which extends its activity on 6 modules in the Poetry in America series, will be exploring a diverse array of reputable American Modernist poets and poems. During 8 weeks, students will have the chance to learn how American Modernist poetry departed from classicism and past forms. The Poetry in America: Modernism starts in December 20th 2017.

At the same time, Harvard is dedicated to help leaders develop in many disciplines. “Poetry in America: Modernism” is an example of Harvard’s openness and devotion where students will have the chance to encounter poets such as Robert Frost, T.S. Eliot, Marianne Moore, Langston Hughes, William Carlos Williams, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Claude McKay, Dorothy Parker, and Wallace Stevens.

Why Harvard encourages students to apply for its free online course on Poetry? What entrants will learn? The free course will take leaners on a journey through the American literature based on reviewing video lectures, archival images and texts, expeditions to historic sites and many more. Students will learn the best practices for reading, analyzing, and commenting poems as well as other texts. Students, during the 8 week free online course – will have an understanding of American Modernism (1910 – 1945) in its cultural, artistic, and social contexts. Entrants from across the world can apply as long as they will be available 3 to 5 hours per week and dedicate their time to this online course.

How students can enjoy the course?

They will have to go to the course website here https://www.edx.org/course/poetry-america-modernism-harvardx-ampox-6-0. They will have to create an EdX account to Sign up. Afterwards, they will have to select “Register now” to get started. IMPORTANT NOTE! Since the course is taught in English, students are required to have a good command of English.

EdX offers honor code certificates of achievement, verified certificates of achievement, and XSeries certificates of achievement. Once entrants sign up for a particular course, in this case, Poetry in America: Modernism, and activate their account, they must click on the Log in button on the https://www.edx.org/ homepage and introduce their email address and EdX password. They will be directed to the dashboard so they will have access to their active course.
