Nigeria Development Fund at Coventry University, United Kingdom

The Nigeria Development Fund award was initiated with the intention to reward outstanding Nigerian students whose financial capabilities are limited. Many Nigerian students communicated their concern regarding the real cost in Naira of a course at Coventry University course which has gone up significantly in the last year. The University answered to their request through the Nigeria Development Fund award, which is an extra financial support, considering that students should not be penalized because exchange rates have fallen.

The award is not a selective grade-based scholarship and any Nigerian student who enrolls on a qualifying course that starts in January 2018 or May 2018. The worth of the award is £2,000 per year for every year students study at Coventry. The scholarship is applicable towards the tuition fees. Specifically, a Ph.D. student will be able to save £2,000 on a one year course and an undergraduate student has the possibility to save a total amount of £6,000 during his or her year course.

Who is eligible to apply for this scholarship? First of all, eligible will considered only those students who have completed and submitted their application for a course run by the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing. Students can access its official website here http://www.coventry.ac.uk/study-at-coventry/faculties-and-schools/engineering-environment-and-computing/ and search for the academic programs offered by the faculty. Additionally, students must enroll for either the January 2018 or May 2018 intake at the Coventry campus of Coventry.

What are the other aspects which must be covered by a student in order to be considered eligible? As the name of the award indicates, “Nigeria Development Fund”, will be considered only Nigerian nationals who are self-funded and are paying international tuition fees. Students must have submitted a valid course application for a qualifying course before the deadline.

The lucky winner must be prepared to represent Coventry University as a student advocate alongside his studies. The winner might have to help the International Office by providing promotional information which may include contributing to a blog, video and interviews. The application deadlines for the award are January 5th 2018 and May 18th 2018.
