Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy of Law Scholarship in Germany

If you are a graduate of law – or any other discipline – and you wish to pursue ambitious doctoral work in an interdisciplinary and outstanding research environment, Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy Graduate School of Law is ideal for you. In order to become a Ph.D scholar at Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy Graduate School of Law, you need to have an outstanding degree in law or a non-legal research-orientated master’s degree, precisely in business administration, political science, or sociology. Also, if English or German is not your first language, you are required to prove language proficiency by submitting relevant certificates. For German TestDaF or DSH and for English: certficate proving C1 Level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The program is open for applications in November only and applications for the class of 2018 will be accepted between November 1st 2017 and January 31st 2018. The School of Law does not consider applications on a rolling base. However, it recommends you to prepare the needed documents sooner because it does not accept applications or additional documents after the deadline ends.

  • Research proposal which has to be up to 4 pages
  • A personal statement about why you are applying to the Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy Graduate School of Law
  • Tabular CV
  • Two recommendations from professors attesting to suitability for doctoral work
  • Diploma
  • Language certificates as mentioned above
