Oxford-Mary de Zouche Graduate Scholarship, an Amazing Opportunity for Indian Students at Oxford University

Residents of India or students who have previously studied at an Indian higher education institution are eligible to take part in a contest for the Oxford-Mary de Zouche Graduate Scholarship. One lucky winner will be enchanted to receive a full scholarship which covers fees, college fees, and a grant for living of at least £14,553. Part-time students will also be rewarded with a study support grant instead. Awards will be made for the full duration of their fee liability for the chosen program.

The Oxford-Mary de Zouche Graduate Scholarships have been established by Oxford University and Somerville College with the support of Indian Government. The generous amount and the benefits covered are dedicated only to students who apply for one of the eligible part-time or full-time Master’s Courses mentioned below or for a DPhil course with proposed research in the eligible areas of study.

The list of Master’s programs can be reviewed here: MSc Biodiversity, Conservation and Management; MSc Water Science, Policy and Management; MSc Environmental Change and Management; MPhil Development Studies; Master of Public Policy (MPP); and Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL). Only the previously mentioned Master’s courses are being considered for The Oxford-Mary de Zouche Graduate Scholarships.

Regarding the DPhil courses, the proposed area of study ought to be important to the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development‘s agenda of interdisciplinary research on sustainable development and India. The themes on which the Centre focuses are: energy, environmental conservation, law, governance, gender, food and water security, medical research and healthcare. Additionally, if students propose other India-related themes which fit the aims of the center, they will be taken in consideration.

Students will be evaluated based on academic merit, the relevance of their studies to the aims of the Centre, their understanding of the challenges faced by India’s development, entrepreneurial potential and leadership. The lucky winner will have the opportunity to study at Somerville College. Students will not have to complete a separate application for the scholarship. All eligible applicants, however, will be considered, regardless their college option stated on their graduate application form. Since the scholarship will be tenable at Somerville College, the winner will be transferred to Somerville in order to take up the scholarship.

The admission process consists in attending an interview via Skype for the shortlisted students. The university schedules the interview sessions around April 2018. Students, in order to be considered, must submit their application for graduate study respecting the January deadline for their chosen course.
