Near Eastern Archaeology Foundation Grants for 2018 Are Now Available For Application

The University of Sydney is resourceful when it comes to providing scholarships and grants to students, whether the awards are offered by the university itself, in collaboration with the Australian government or other entities.

One particular grant for which the university is calling for applications is the Near Eastern Archeology Foundation (NEAF) grant where Archeology students can submit their applications by October 31st 2017. NEAF grants are offered annually and are divided based on the area of interest of the applicants. They are as it follows:

The Catherine Southwell-Keely Travel Grant

The above mentioned grant assists a recent graduate of an Australian or New Zealand University who is currently enrolled in postgraduate studies and requires an extensive travel to pursue research in the archeology of Egypt. The worth of the award is $3500. The award will be used only for travel purposes. Entrants will have to submit a short CV, a statement of the entrants’ proposed research project and detailed budget. The documents will have to be emailed as PDF attachments to neaf.archaeology@sydney.edu.au. Applicants will also be accompanied by two letters of reference sent directly to the above mail.

The Sam Eames Grant-in-Aid

This grant will assist recent graduates of an Australian or New Zealand University currently enrolled in post graduate studies to pursue research in the archaeology of Egypt, Cyprus or Western Asia. The admission process is identical with the one mentioned above. The worth of the award is AUD1500 and will be used for research.

The Leone Crawford Travel Grant

This grant assists a recent graduate of an Australian or New Zealand University who is enrolled in postgraduate studies to pursue overseas archeological site research in the geographical areas where NEAR also conducts research.

Grants-in-Aid

An award of $5000 will assist a recent graduate of an Australian or New Zealand University to pursue research in the archeology of Egypt, Cyprus or Western Asia.

Students who are interested are advised to submit their applications no later than October 31st. Late submissions will not be considered. Also, students who wish to find more about the University and the student grants as well as other financial opportunities are required to consult the following website http://sydney.edu.au/arts/research/neaf/grants/index.shtml.
