$250 William D. Kavan Scholarship

The School of Politics and Global Studies at the Arizona State University (ASU) is offering its scholarships for an undergraduate junior or senior student who want to pursue Political Science at one of the United States’ better esteemed institutions of higher education. While the amount of the scholarship seems small, students should also be aware that ASU offers a variety of funding options available on the school’s website.

There is a passel of online universities that offer online education; however, ASU’s on-site courses are of stellar quality. The university has recently begun expanding in the realm of online education as have many other universities at the same time.

The college of Liberal Arts and Sciences now offers this exciting new opportunity for students to contribute some money towards their overall studies. In order to do so, a minimum of GPA 3.0 must be met. As a kind reminder, most of ASU scholarships are available to both Arizona and Non-Arizona residents. In the case of the William D. Kavan Scholarship, only Non-Arizona residents need apply. This is a full-time enrollment program, so students need to account for this when applying.

It is common knowledge that online universities have a rather laxer admission criteria. The criteria at Arizona State University are not too strict, but still they have to be followed to the letter for applicants to get an honest shot of admission. To this end:

  • The prospective candidate must be a Political Science major in the School of Politics and Global Studies at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences;
  • The applicant must be junior or senior year and has completed 60 hours by the time his application has been forwarded;
  • Undergraduate student and full-time student;
  • A kind reminder that non-residents of Arizona will not be considered is issued at this point

Application deadline extends by 31 January 2018 and the scholarship is granted for the 2018/2019 academic year. If candidates need assistance they mat freely browse the scholarship site found at this link. Adding to this, ASU has a contact person, Lisa Hutchins who will happily handle any queries from prospective candidates at lisa.hutchins@asu.edu.

In conclusion, online education is en vogue and it is slated to expand rapidly in the following years, rendering some universities obsolete. However, institutions of the stature of ASU may never be quite put out of business. So students who want to pursue excellence in the field of Political Science are strongly encourage to enroll and benefit from the bountiful opportunities for funding they are offered.
