Make a Difference with a Comprehensive South African Bursary

While there are lots of scholarship opportunities for people residing in the southernmost part of Africa, what is often overlooked are learning programs that will provide a sustaining impact to the region. For many, heading out of the continent in order to go to the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom is a dream come true. However, if you really want to do something special, there is one essential thing that you can pursue. Get a course that will allow you to improve the lives of many.

Getting an intensive bursary at the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) is a key to developing your country. By acquiring the necessary knowledge and training, you will learn critical skills that will boost the often overlooked sectors in South Africa.

The region’s agricultural sphere has always been in need of viability. Instituting food safety and sufficiency is critical to the nation’s survival. By electing to be a part of the sector’s Bachelors, Masters or PHD programs, you will be on your way to enhance South Africa’s core development system.

The best thing about pursuing a DAFF bursary is that you don’t need to leave home. Scholarships can be taken in South Africa. Not only will the program cover your tuition, books and accommodation needs but it will also provide meals and monthly allowances.

It is worth noting that the availability of some courses is exclusive at certain schools of higher learning. For instance, the Bachelor of Science Degree in Oceanography and Marine Biology can only be acquired at the University of Cape Town. Degrees in Veterinary Medicine and Bio-resource Engineering can only be pursued at the Universities of Pretoria and KwaZulu-Natal, respectively.

Applicants for the DAFF bursaries should be South African citizens. You can view all the complete learning programs at www.daff.gov.za. Click on Food Security and Agrarian Reform Branch and proceed to Sector Education and Training when you’re on the domain. Applications from both undergraduate and graduate entrants are accepted within the following areas of study:

BSc degrees:

  • Bioresource Engineering (Agricultural Engineering)
  • Entomology
  • Food Science
  • Forestry and Wood Science
  • Ichthyology (Specialising in Aquaculture)

Postgraduate studies:

Please take note that the deadline of submission for applications will be on September 30, 2017. If you have not received any form of reply from the department that you are applying for by January 15, 2018, consider your application to be unsuccessful. Corresponding forms are made available at the website. Supporting documents like your ID and certificates must be forwarded by post.
