$500 for Your Coming School Year (Only If You Are a Pet Sitter)

Being a pet owner and even a pet sitter is life-changing as both responsibilities come with valuable lessons. Rover.com connects pet owners with loving and trustworthy pet sitters and dog walkers with the purpose of creating magical experiences for both the pets and their sitters. Rover.com wishes to reward the two best sitters by offering them two $500 scholarships. This contest is available only for Rover sitters who were active in the last 12 months. Students can apply for the scholarship by answering the scholarship question in 400-500 words. The question is “More Americans are choosing to build their families around their dogs, rather than having children. What is fueling this decision?” Once the essay is finished, the answer must be put in a Google doc with the name of the entrant and year in college at the top. High school seniors are allowed to apply also. Entrants must fill out the following form http://bit.ly/2wxmNMq and submit it by august 31st, 2017.

Rover.com is offering some hints for entrants to take in consideration once they start writing their essays:

1. A comparison among cities where are more kids than dogs.

2. Economic and social reasons for having dogs instead of kids.

3. Dogs as part of the family and the evolution of their relationship with humans.

4. The influence of dogs on life at work and home.

For the $500 Rover scholarship, students must be US residents and graduating high school seniors, currently freshmen, sophomores, or junior in college in pursuit of associates degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree. For entrants who are graduating high school seniors, their GPA must be 3.0 or above. If they are in college, their GPA must be 2.5 or above. If they are in graduate school, they must either have a 2.5 GPA or above or a “Pass” in a Pass/Fail grading system.

It is important, as we have previously mentioned before, that entrants are sitters on Rover.com and have booked a stay in the last 12 months. Entrants must not be related to anyone on the Rover staff, but they can be related to someone who’s a pet sitter or dog walker on Rover.
