The Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship is offering $1000 to US students

The Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship program is awarding passionate students who are interested in exploring the world. Young people deserve to know the world beyond their campuses but, unfortunately not everyone can accomplish this dream being on a student budget. The Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship program was initiated with the help of Tortuga’s customers who, while purchasing any of the items for their travels, they were paying it forward by funding scholarships for less financially fortunate students.

The amount of the scholarship is $1000 and can be used for books, travel, tuition, or room and board. The amount will be sent directly to winner’s abroad program or university. The lucky winner, will also receive one outbreaker backpack worth $249 that will allow him/ her bring everything he/ she needs without checking a bag. The Outbreaker travel backpack is a maximum-sized carry on for city travelers.

Who can apply for the Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship program? Will be considered eligible students who comply with the following requirements:

1. They must be U.S citizens, permanent residents, or students who are currently studying in the U.S owning a student VISA.

2. They must be full-time undergrad students in good academic standing pursuing their courses at a four-year, degree-granting college or university in the U.S.

3. The must have applied to or have been accepted into a study abroad program eligible for credit by their university or college.

Students who do not comply with the above mentioned request will not be considered eligible.

The Tortuga scholarship is awarded twice a year and the most recent closing date for the scholarship is December 20th 2017. The lucky winner will be announced on January 5th 2018.

The students are invited to answer to some questions, including to how they will hope to learn by experiencing another culture and how they will apply the lessons once they have returned home. The answers to this question will have to be exploited in a 500-word essay. The students can also provide a link to an essay written elsewhere, such as a personal blog.
